"The Art of US: Spirit of Unbridled, A Life Worth Seeing" Sponsored by FireHorse Rescue Kits

Greenville, NY (September 15, 2026) - Spirit of Unbridled, known as Spirit for short, was almost lost. Today, he lives in peace and security, surrounded by loving stewards and safe from a fate that could easily have prevented his young soul from entering the world. In the fall of 2025, his dam Joyfull was in the slaughter pipeline. Without knowing she was pregnant, Unbridled Sanctuary in upstate New York rescued Joyfull and brought her to their farm to live our her life in their equine haven. Upon discovering she was pregnant, Joyfull received full veterinary care and successfully foaled a healthy Baby Spirit in March of 2026. Now 6 months old, Spirit and all of his fellow Sanctuary residents live in peace and safety, quite the juxtaposition to the lives they previously knew (or in Spirit’s case, never came to know).

To celebrate this life that almost never was, and the living archive of rescued equids currently living and posthumously remembered as citizens of Unbridled, the Sanctuary launched The Art of US: Spirit of Unbridled, a Life Worth Seeing. Opened in September 2026, the fine-art exhibition is now on view at Sand Lake Center for the Arts / Circle Theatre Players. The exhibit invites the public to see horses from a unique angle: not as property, performance, or utility, but as individual lives worthy of protection.

The exhibition opening day September 4th received a warm community reception at Sand Lake Center for the Arts, made possible through the support of local makers, businesses, volunteers, and partners including Sand Lake Center for the Arts, McGreevy Pro Lab, Corner Gateway Printing, Delmar Frame Shop, Honest Weight Food Co-op, and FireHorse Rescue Kits.

At the heart of the exhibition is Spirit of Unbridled, born March 7, 2026 at Unbridled Sanctuary after his mother, Joyful, was rescued from auction while unknowingly pregnant. Spirits storyrescue, birth, and becominganchors the exhibits message: every life is worth seeing. Through fine-art photography, original equine-created artwork, and the story behind each image, The Art of US traces one extraordinary life and asks a simple, urgent question: What changes when we truly see a horse?

At just six months of age, Spirit of Unbridled is already a National Ambassador for FireHorse Rescue Kits, and recently made his television debut on WNYT NewsChannel 13 giving voice to stronger protections for equines. Now the subject of his own exhibition via The Art of US: Spirit of Unbridled, this young colt is already impacting human and equine lives across the country. Without the intervention of Unbridled Sanctuary, supported by the amazing people whose generosity make this work possible, his life would have been erased before he ever drew his first breath, carried inside his mother on a slaughter-bound journey to Canada.

Spirit's exhibition runs through September 30th!

“Rescue is more than saving a life in a single moment — it’s the commitment to keep that life safe for years to come,” said Susan Kayne, Founder and CEO of Unbridled Sanctuary. “When a sanctuary takes in animals who have already survived the worst, every layer of safety matters, and when realized what FireHorse was offering, we knew this was something we needed to protect our horses. For us, it's all about the relationships and synergistic goals: the horse that trusts you, the volunteer who shows up every day, the family that visits and falls in love with a rescue story. FireHorse's goal is to help facilities like Unbridled create a safer environment where that trust is never put at risk.”

Unbridled Sanctuary is recognized for its high standards of care and its commitment to doing rescue the right way: strong operational practices, transparent stewardship, and a focus on long-term wellbeing. Their multiple accreditations reflect the seriousness of their mission and the level of responsibility they carry on behalf of their residents.
